ULFA foreign secretary Sashadhar Choudhury and finance secretary Chitrabon Hazarika were sent to Guwahati jail by Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate Robin Phukan in Guwahati on Monday evening. The two were arrested last month after they 'surrendered' to the Border Security Force near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.

Choudhury and Hazarika will have three fellow ULFA leaders for company in the jail. They are the outfit's vice-chairman Pradip Gogoi, publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary and cultural secretary Pranati Deka. A fourth, 'major' Ramu Mech is on parole.

All are members of the ULFA's decision-making Central Executive Committee. Apart from Mech, all belong to the outfit's political wing.
