In a major seizure in Kerala in recent times, police today recovered 20 powerful country-made bombs from a residential premises at Dharmadom in Thalassery town, police sources said.
The crude bombs kept in a plastic container were found in a pit close to the residence of a local BJP activist who is allegedly involved in several cases of political clashes in the politically sensitive localities.
On a tip off, a police team led by sub Inspector M V Anil Kumar of Dharmadom police station raided the spot this evening and recovered the high intensity explosives from the premises, sources said.
The bombs would be defused by the bomb squad tomorrow.
No arrests have been made in this connection yet, police said.
