20 KMK activists booked for assaulting scribe

Cases were registered today against 20 activists of Kongunadu Mennetra Kazhagam (KMK) in connection with the alleged attack on a reporter-cum-cameraman of Sun TV and his friend at Oodanilai near Erode.

The caseses were registered on a complaint by the journalist Gunasekaran, who was 'assaulted' yesterday while covering a function in connection the death anniversary of freedom fighter Deeran Chinnamalai.

Police said they were questioning three persons in connection with the attack a special team set up to nab the assailants.

Protesting the attack, some journalists staged a 'road roko' on Perundurai road and were persuaded to disperse by police, who assured them that the culprits would be arrested.
