More than 200 kids from two villages under Shyamgarh tehsil in Mandsaur district fell ill after drinking contaminated water.
The incident occurred at Satkhera and Hanumantiya villages, about 85-kilometre north of district headquarters on Thursday and Friday. According to information as many 165 kids from Satkhera fell ill after drinking contaminated water supplied here.
On Friday, 40 more kids from Hanumantiya village suffered same problem. Kids start vomiting and showed signs of diarrhoea, soon after drinking water from the taps. In both the incident all the kids were taken to the health centres situated nearby.
As soon as news reached the district headquarters, the district administration team along with health officials reached the area and took stock of situation there. The condition of the kids is out of danger now.
Mandsaur district chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Pradeep Sharma said the situation was now under control. Public health engineering team intercepted leakage in pipeline from where contaminated water entered into the water supply pipeline, which was the reason behind the incident.
