The International Automobile Federation (FIA) published the entry list for the 2012 Formula One world championship. The top four outfits remain unchanged while Renault officially changes it's name to the Lotus F1 Team and is listed as a British entrant following a successful bid to the rights to use the Lotus name. Kimi Raikkonen is confirmed as a driver for Lotus but the other seat lies vacant with France's Romain Grosjean and Brazil's Bruno Senna amongst the top candidates to take fill the seat.

Both Force India and Toro Rosso are shown as not having confirmed any drivers as of now, but Force India is expected by many to confirm Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg as its drivers.

Team Lotus officially changes its name to Team Catheram while remaining a Malaysian entry and continuing to use Renault engines.

Williams becomes the fourth Renault powered team on the grid but are yet to announce either of their drivers. Adrian Sutil has been rumored to replace Rubens Barrichello at the former championship-winning squad while Pastor Maldonado is expected to retain his seat due to being backed by Venezuela's state owned oil company.

Despite announcing the signing of Pedro de la Rosa, both driver slots in HRT's entry remain empty and an engine supplier is yet to be confirmed as well.

This leaves the Marussia F1 Team - formerly known as Marussia Virgin -as the only Cosworth powered team on the grid as they confirm a driver line up of Timo Glock and Chales Pic, who replaces Jerome D'Ambrosio.
