21-year-old engineering student jumps off Ghaziabad mall, dies

In yet another case of suicide in Ghaziabad, a 21-year-old engineering student jumped off the second floor inside a mall at Kaushambi area of the city and died on the way to the hospital on late Friday night. According to the police, the victim was furious as his female friend had refused to meet him.

In yet another case of suicide in Ghaziabad, a 21-year-old engineering student jumped off the second floor inside a mall at Kaushambi area of the city and died on the way to the hospital on late Friday night. According to the police, the victim was furious as his female friend had refused to meet him.

Pawan Raj was a second year B.Tech student of Ideal College in Ghaziabad and had gone for shopping at EDM mall at Kaushambi on Friday evening. The college is more than 15km away from the mall.

After reaching there, he called up one of his female friends and asked her to meet him at the mall. When she refused, there was an altercation between the two which led to the incident.

"After his friend refused to meet him, he got furious and jumped off the second floor of the mall. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. But he could not be saved and the doctors pronounced him brought dead. It is a clear case of suicide and we have informed his family members," superintendent of police (SP) SS Yadav said.

Police said the victim belonged to Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh .

The incident came a day after a management student committed suicide inside the boys' hostel at ITS College at Mohan Nagar. He had been depressed over the death of his female friend who had allegedly died a couple of days ago.
