A 23-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself with a country-made revolver on Tuesday.
His girlfriend died last month due to a heart attack. “Manoj Jaiswal, a SIM card dealer from Kurla, was reeling under a lot of stress as both his and his girlfriend, Kiran Jaiswal’s family were opposed to their marriage as they were cousins.” said K S Chaudhary, senior police inspector of VB Nagar police station.
“When Kiran passed away he could not take it anymore and decided to end his life.”
The police said he left behind a suicide note mentioning the stress he was under as his relationship had gone wrong. The duo were in a relationship for the last one year and intended to get married.
He resided at Gurudutt Nagar in Kurla with his 48-year-old father Amrutlal Jaiswal and two younger brothers, who study in college.
“His father was out buying groceries and his brothers were in college when he shot himself,” said police inspector N Mangaonkar from VB Nagar police station.
Manoj had gone to Kanpur in December and returned four days ago. He had purchased a pistol with which he shot himself in the chest around 12.30pm on Tuesday.
He added, “We have not recorded the statement of family members are they are too traumatized to talk.”
Meanwhile, the officials have filed an accidental death report and are trying to find the place from where Manoj purchased the country-made pistol.
