A 23-year-old woman, working as an airport trainer with a private airlines company, reportedly committed suicide by shooting herself at her residence on Sunday morning in the presence of her husband.
One of the doctors, who conducted autopsy of deceased Ruchi Chauhan said that the multiple bruises all over her body clearly indicated that she was being traumatized for quite a long time.
“The woman died of contact gunshot wound at her forehead which meant that bullet was fired with the revolver by putting it at her forehead, the doctor said,” said Dr Deepak Mathur.
The police have booked the husband on the charges of abetting his wife to commit suicide and also for carrying a firearm illegally.
The duo, living in Acharya Puri colony, was married in 2007 and has one 5-month-old baby. The accused would suspect her character and harass her continuously and this led the woman to take the extreme step, said the DCP (West) VP Godara.
“Her husband Gaurav Chauhan suspected her integrity and forced her to leave the job. He also harassed her on regular basis and this could possibly have forced the woman to commit suicide.” Said the DCP.
The family and neighbors preferred to remain tight-lipped on the issue as, according to the police officials, the accused allegedly has a criminal background.
DCP Godara said was also booked under Arms Act for illegal possession of a revolver. “We have taken the accused Chauhan into custody for interrogation", he added.
Police has also recovered a piece of paper from the house of the deceased.
”The piece of paper read, I am Sorry. It is still to be verified from the writing whether it was written by the deceased herself or someone else."
