To meet the increasing demand for the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), the Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited has started operating its Sector 53 facility at night also.
Besides, the operator has increased the capacity at other four outlets.
Satish Chopra, managing director, Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited, said, “We have recently introduced night shifts at the Sector 53 station. At Sector 22 station, we have installed a new compressor. The Bus Depot outlet, which had not been working for long, has been made functional.”
According to the official, the operator will set up five more outlets in the city.
“We have identified the sites and are waiting for the no-objection certificate from the state government. We are confident that we would be able to set up the stations by the end of the financial year,” he added.
Officials of the distribution company said there has been a spurt in demand ever since petrol prices were hiked.
The five stations are located at Sectors 22, 29, 44, 53 and Bus Depot. Besides 3,500 autos, more than one lakh vehicles run on CNG. Now, residents have to wait for hours together to fill gas at the stations. The new stations are likely to come up at Sectors 14, 15, 31, Hero Honda Chowk and NH-8.
