3 cars, farms, 8 bank accounts, SUV, flats among constable’s assets

The Lokayukta police on Monday raided the residence of a constable with the state transport department and unearthed crores of rupees worth of unaccounted wealth amassed by him, police said.
Following a complaint of corruption against Ramchandra Jaiswal, a constable with the regional transport office posted at Jabalpur, simultaneous raids were conducted in Indore, Satna, Rewa and Jabalpur, said Daulat Singh, deputy superintendent of police (Lokayukta).
Police teams of the anti-corruption ombudsman raided two properties of head constable Arun Kumar Singh Baghel, one at Annapurna Nagar and the other in Rewa district.
“Arun Kumar Singh Baghel has worked for more than 32 years and has earned a salary of more than Rs 50 lakh, but his assets far exceed his known sources of income,” he said. “During the raid at his three-storied house in Indore’s Annapura Nagar, sleuths found more than Rs 60,000 in cash, jewellery, three high-end cars, including an SUV.
“The team unearthed documents of two bank locker sin Ind ore and Rewa in which he is believed to have kept jewellery. The interiors of the house is luxuriously done up and is worth more than Rs 1 crore,” said Singh, who led raid in Indore.
“A detailed valuation of Jaiswal’s wealth is being done.”
Baghel had worked at all the major check-posts in the state, including Sendhwa, where people reportedly pay huge bribes.
Lokayukta police sources said apart from the house in Indore, Baghel owns two big farm houses, including one at Talawalichanda on the Mhow road near Indore and another in Rewa.
In Rewa, sleuths found a house in Bodhbagh, a flat in Narendra Nagar, two flats at Anantpuri. They also found documents for a 30 acre land in Nibuha village which has a mango grove and two plots in Hardikhurdi village.
