THREE medical students in the city are suspected to be involved in the Punjab pre-medical test paper leak case. A city printing press has reportedly printed the Punjab PMT question papers.
While two students are from the King George’s Medical University (KGMU), the other belongs to the UP King George’s Medical University of Dental Sciences. All three of them are allegedly involved in the paper leak case.
Anis Kumar and Pankaj Kumar, who belong to 2001 batch, are from KGMU and another student Anil Behlia (2001 batch) is a student of the dental university.
The varsity authorities, who have sealed the official documents of all the 2001 batch students, are now waiting for official communication from the Punjab police.
Once the authorities get a clear indication about the students’ involvement in the paper leak case, they would be expelled from the campus.
“We have got to know through the media about the involvement of these students. Thus we decided to seal the official documents. Once the Punjab police have a dialogue with us about the facts, we will initiate action against them,” said KGMU registrar Col Fasih Ahmed.
The Punjab police had arrested five persons and seized photocopies of 21 sets of question paper. Besides, the cops rounded up several other suspects for interrogation.
Earlier, during the 2002 All- India PGMEE, one of the faculties of the KGMU was named in the paper leak. He lodged in jail for several months while the Central agencies were investigating the paper leak case.
The Punjab police are expected to arrive in the city this week. However, the local cops are not aware of any such operations.
