A THREE-DAY workshop on the bird flu menace and its management is being organised by the animal husbandry department of the state government at the RSVP Naronha administration academy at Bhopal from Tuesday.
The principal secretary of animal husbandry Ranjana Chowdhary would be the chief guest while commissioner veterinary services Shikha Dubey will preside over the inaugural session that would commence at 9.30 a.m.
The joint director of High Security Animal Disease Laboratory Dr HK Pradhan would be the special guest. The observer of the union government Dr Bhambal, senior scientist of Pune Dr Gulvelkar and Dr Talele will impart training through advance practical method on sample collection, preservation, control, vaccination to the veterinary doctors and officers of other departments.
It may be mentioned that Avian influenza (bird flu) has taken a serious shape globally and the migratory birds coming from far flung areas play an important role in spread of the disease. The training to be imparted in the workshop will help officials to take timely action and preparation against the bird flu danger apart from making people aware about the misconceptions regarding the disease.
As many as 300 officers of veterinary, forest, fisheries, irrigation and Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) would attend the workshop.
