Three students of an engineering college in Faridabad drowned in a lake on Wednesday evening.

The police said some villagers alerted them after they found some clothes on the banks of a lake in the Kori Jamalpur area, under Sector 55 police station.

As the news spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. The police arrived in no time and divers were pressed into service. After hours of frantic search, two bodies were fished out on Thursday.

Vinod Kaushik, ACP Mujesar said, “The victims have been identified as Abhay Kumar, resident of Sector 3, Faridabad and Vishal Kumar of Dwarka, Delhi.”

On the basis of identify cards found among the clothes, the third student was identified as Deepak Rawat of SGM Nagar, Faridabad.

His body is yet to be retrieved. All three were students of B Tech in BS Ananagpuria Engineering College, Faridabad. The bodies were shifted to BK Hospital and will be handed over to the victims' family members after post-mortem.

A search operation to retrieve the body of the third student is still on.
