3 held for impersonating as CBI officers in Delhi
Three youth arrested on charges of impersonating as CBI officers in New Delhi.
Three youths have been arrested on charges of impersonating as CBI officers and attempting to intimidate an executive of a private television channel.
Sandeep Dahiya, Ravi Kumar and Sohan Singh, all of them residents of Faridabad, had stopped a car near Mandi House on Thursday night after identifying themselves as CBI officers, police said.
The trio then told the occupant of the car, identified as Wali Mohammad, a field officer with Star News television channel, that they wanted to check the vehicle.
However, Mohammad felt suspicious about the credentials of the trio, who were allegedly inebriated, and asked them to produce their identity cards.
They then tried to flee after which Mohammad raised an alarm and police constables patrolling in the area apprehended the three, who were aged between 20-25 years.
Police believe they were trying to extort money from the executive. They were produced in a local court, which remanded them to 14 days in judicial custody.
