The trio then told the occupant of the car, identified as Wali Mohammad, a field officer with Star News television channel, that they wanted to check the vehicle.

However, Mohammad felt suspicious about the credentials of the trio, who were allegedly inebriated, and asked them to produce their identity cards.

They then tried to flee after which Mohammad raised an alarm and police constables patrolling in the area apprehended the three, who were aged between 20-25 years.

Police believe they were trying to extort money from the executive. They were produced in a local court, which remanded them to 14 days in judicial custody.
