3 held for looting jewellery, cash

CITY POLICE arrested three persons for looting cash and jewellery from the house of a jeweller?s mother. Police recovered cash, gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. The kingpin of the gang is absconding. The arrested persons were identified as Vinod Rajbhar, Manoj Gupta and Kishori Mehto, a domestic help of the victim?s family.

CITY POLICE arrested three persons for looting cash and jewellery from the house of a jeweller’s mother. Police recovered cash, gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. The kingpin of the gang is absconding. The arrested persons were identified as Vinod Rajbhar, Manoj Gupta and Kishori Mehto, a domestic help of the victim’s family.

Armed miscreants, wearing masks had struck at a house of 72-year-old woman Aruna Agrawal, mother of Lalit Agrawal at  Akatha-Baluwa road in Sarnath area on September 28 evening.

Senior superintendent of police Ashutosh Pandey told newspersons that Sarnath police got a tip-off about the presence of the miscreants in Paharia area. 

“A team led by Sarnath station officer Virendra Mishra and Cantonment inspector Pradeep Verma laid a trap and arrested Vinod Rajbhar of Sarang Talab area and Manoj Gupta of Chittupur area. The SSP said police recovered looted ornaments from their possession. Later, police also arrested Kishori Mehto, resident of Madhubani district in Bihar. He had been with the Agrawal family for 18 years. The SSP said Kishori confessed to his involvement in the crime.

Police also called Lalit Agrawal to identify the looted ornaments during the Press conference. Agrawal said some gold bangles were missing. The SSP apprehended the missing bangles might be in possession of the kingpin of the gang. Police launched a massive manhunt to arrest the kingpin.   

 

 

              
Youth shot dead
A 20-YEAR-OLD youth, Manjeet, was shot dead in Kishanpur village of Saidpur area in Ghazipur district on Saturday night. The assailant was from the same village. The murder is stated to the fallout of a love affair. Police have registered an FIR.
