Three pilgrims, including a woman were killed and 18 others injured when their tourist bus overturned near Guru Teg Bahadur College for Women, Dasuya on Saturday morning around 6am. The pilgrims were going to holy shrine of Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir to pay their obeisance from Delhi in this tourist bus.
According to police, the deceased identified as Ashok Kumar (17), and Bhupinder Chauhan (18), both from Najaphgarh, New Delhi, died on the spot while Archana Gupta(50), wife of Anil Kumar Gupta of Jaipur, Rajasthan, succumbed to her injuries on the way to a private hospital, Jalandhar. Ashok Kumar and Bhupinder Chauhan both were class mate and had appeared in plus two examination. Both deceased along with their two other classmates named Saurabh Kumar and Pawan Kumar were traveling in the bus.
All the 18 injured pilgrims who sustained minor injuries were admitted to Civil Hospital, Dasuya. After first aid they were relieved from the hospital. The Dasuya police has registered a case against the driver of the bus on the statement of Saurabh Kumar whose two classmate died in this incident. The driver fled from the spot and yet to be arrested and to be identified.
Saurabh Kumar in his statement said that the driver of the bus was responsible for the accident as he was driving the bus recklessly. He said that many a time passengers intervened and asked him to not to drive recklessly. But he continued and struck the bus into the car coming from opposite side and bus overturned. When the bus overturned the middle of the bus fell on sewerage pipe lying byroad side. Both the classmates who was sitting in the middle of the bus sustained severe head injuries due to this and Both died on the spot. The local people gathered there and called the ambulance to take the injured to the hospitals. Mayawati(50) the sister of the car driver also got fractured her right arms and car was also damaged in the accident.
The other injured were identified as Parveen Kumar, L P Rakhi, Harsh Rakhi, Sandeep, Ajay Kumar, all from Uttar Pradesh; Deepankar Monali, Chander, his mother Sonia Gupta, Rajesh, Mamta, Parkash Rani, Krishan Lal, Sandeep, all from New Delhi; Daulat Ram from Jammu.
