3 policemen penalised for humiliating rape victim in MP

Barwani superintendent of police Tilak Singh on Tuesday line attached two police officials and suspended a head constable following complaint from a rape victim that they allegedly humiliated and extorted money from her for filing her complaint.

On the woman’s complaint, the police had registered a case against Manoj Jain, a resident of Pipliya in Dhar district, on November 24. The 23-year-old complainant has alleged that Jain raped her after giving sleeping pills, made MMS and sexually exploited her for seven years. The SP said that after getting complaint from the rape victim, town inspector MK Dubey and sub-inspector Sunita Solanki were line attached, while head constable Kailash was suspended.

In her complaint, the victim had told the SP that when she approached the Kotwali police for filing her complaint against Jain, the trio allegedly tortured and humiliated her. She was also forced to pay `10, 000 for the filing of the case, she said.
