30 CWG medalists from Haryana to get Maruti cars

Thirty medalists of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) from Haryana and two others - Saina Nehwal and Sushil Kumar - having connection with the state would get Maruti cars.

The 15 gold medalist from Haryana and Saina Nehwal and Sushil Kumar would also be given Maruti SX4 luxury cars of Maruti located in Gurgaon, an official spokesman said here today.

Seven silver medalist players would be given Maruti Dzire and eight bronze medalists from the State of Haryana would be given Wagon R cars.

The keys of the cars would be handed over to the players by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at a state level function being organized on Haryana Day, November 1 at Sonepat.

Keeping in view Maruti Udyog's long association with Haryana, the Chief Minister took up the matter with MUL Management which agreed to his proposal.

The Haryana Government is honouring all the gold medalist players from Haryana with cash awards of Rs 15 lakh, silver medalists with Rs ten lakh and bronze medalists with Rs five lakh each. The total amount to be disbursed on November one would be about Rs four Crore.

As many as 54 players from the State had represented the country in the just concluded Commonwealth Games and had won 17 gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals for the country.
