4 killed, two injured in Jharkhand road accident

At least four people were killed and two injured when a speeding truck ran over them in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand today, a police officer said.

The accident took place when the six people were trying to cross the road at Grand Trank (GT) road situated near Govindpur block of Dhanbad district, around 240 km from here.

"A speeding truck ploughed into them, killing four people on the spot. Two people were seriously injured and have been admitted to the Patliputra Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad," the police officer added.

He said the condition of the injured is critical.

The truck has been seized by the police and the driver is absconding.

Angry villagers later blocked the GT road. They demanded the driver's arrest and compensation to the kin of those killed.
