Four leather manufacturing units were sealed for allegedly releasing polluted water in the river Ganga by the district authorities and Pollution Control Board (PCB) at Jajmau in Kanpur.

Despite repeated warnings, many tannery owners were discharging polluted water in the river. They have also not installed a treatment plant as directed by the authorities, PCB Regional Officer Radheshyam on Wednesday said.

The PCB and district authorities today raided and sealed Samsun, Khatun, Leather Line and Nafiz Leather tanneries, he said.
