THE STANDING Committee of the Barkatullah University today decided to cancel the admission of about 40 students of M Sc and B Ed courses, whose names were not present in the admission lists submitted by respective colleges, and who were given provisional permission to appear for the annual exams.

The Standing Committee today decided that admission of all such students, whose names were not in the admission lists, be deemed cancelled. The decision that comes bang in between on the ongoing annual exams comes as a jolt for the students.

However, the matter would now go for ratification to the Executive Council of the university and only then would it considered to be final. The students had been made to produce affidavit that any decision in this regard by the university would be agreeable to them.

The Standing Committee also took up the matter of the additional admissions on management quota seats by the People’s College of Dental Science and Research as also the People’s Dental Academy. The People’s College had admitted 71 students as against management quota of 50 for the session 2005-06 while the People’s Academy admitted 63 students (against quota of 50).

Consequent to this, the Dental Council of India decided to reduce the management quota for the People’s Dental College to 29 and that of People’s Academy to 37 instead of 50 in each college for the session 2006-07. The standing committee decided that the university would adhere to decision of the DCI.

The matter of affiliation of some colleges also came up during meeting and affiliations were approved.
