Policing in the city is set to get a boost with deployment of 400 fresh police recruits and installation of 200 CCTV cameras at crime-prone locations in the district.
This was announced by Haryana director general of police Ranjeev Singh Dalal at the passing out parade of 638 constables at the Recruit Training Centre in Gurgaon’s Bhondsi on Friday.
Dalal said that out of the 638 constables, 400 would be deputed in Gurgaon to strengthen the police force while the rest would be deputed in southern Haryana towns such as Mewat, Palwal and Rewari.
With the deployment of these 400 constables, the total police strength in Gurgaon would reach 4,000.
Dalal said that besides regular training, emphasis was given on imparting computer knowledge and photography skills to the recruits.
The examinations were conducted online to make sure the recruits are comfortable with using computers. Also, photography was taught so that they could click pictures at crime spots. Dalal said the much-awaited outdoor surveillance system (OSS) would be in place in the next six months.
Under the system, high-tech cameras with revolve, pan/tilt, 360 rotation and auto-zoom features will be used. Around R60 crore has already been allocated to implement the system.
