403rd martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev observed in AP

The 403rd Martyrdom of fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev, who compiled Guru Granth Sahib and also sacrificed his life for the altar of dharma, was observed in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

In the state capital in Hyderabad, the major programme of the event was organised under the aegis of Prabhandak Committee, Gurudwara Saheb Nalebagh, Sikh Chawni, Uppuguda, where over 10,000 Sikh devotees and others participated in the ‘Vishaal Deewan´ (Mass Congregation) at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium.

The congregation began in the morning at 1100 hours and continued till 1600 hours was marked by the recitations of Holy Gurubani Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the renowned Ragi Jathas (community Preachers), Prabhandak Committee, President, S Jahan Singh said in a statement.

Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, Mohali, Punjab, Sakatar Singh, Amritsar, Jagbeer Singh of Karimnagar and Hari Singh, Nagina Singh, Nanak Singh Sukhmani, Bhai Surinder Singh and other reputed Ragi Jathas Shabad keertans stressed on imbibing the higher values of life for which Guru Arjan Devji strived, the statement said.
