A TOTAL of 47 teachers found absent from duty in Datia and Chhatarpur faced action during the surprise inspection conducted by the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) officials on Tuesday.
Show cause notices have been issued to these teachers and strict action would be initiated if their reply were not found satisfactory.
In Datia district 23 teachers were found absent in the 47 schools that were inspected. Inspection team found that the Primary School at Saletala (Bhander tehsil) had not at all opened during the current academic session. All the six teachers who are posted here have remained absent through the two and half month since the session commenced. Notices were immediately issued to these erring teachers.
In Chhatarpur district 17 teachers were found absent from work and were served notices. In Bhopal, a team led by the joint director of Bhopal division OP Sharma visited two schools and the inspection tour was curtailed due to rains. The team visited the Sarojini Naidu School and the Raja Bhoj School and conducted detailed inspection, though no action was taken.
The team found that the number of classrooms at Sarojini Naidu School was inadequate and many of them leaked. At least two classes were being held in open and had to be adjusted with other classes when the rains hit.
Similarly equipments in the laboratory were also found to be in dysfunctional state. The joint director issued directives to get the repair work done by using the funds available at school level and send estimate for additional classrooms to the department.
