Five companies of para military forces will assist over 3,740 policemen and officers along with 1,750 home guards in conducting the general elections in Nagpur and adjoining Ramtek constituency on April 16.
A total of 5,490 men will be deployed for the first phase of polls in Nagpur and adjoining Ramtek constituency, Returning Officer and District Collector, Praveen Darade told reporters in Nagpur on Thursday.
Nagpur has 17,44,182 voters while Ramtek has 15,05,944 voters including 2,499 from Armed Forces, Darade said.
As many as 19,144 polling staff, that includes retired officers of state and Central government and teachers under the Zilla Parishad, would be deployed to man the polling stations.
Around 3,667 polling stations at both places including 2,045 booths in Ramtek will facilitate voting, he said.
Nagpur South-West has 277, Nagpur-South 271, Nagpur-East 210, Nagpur-Central 285, Nagpur-West 271 while Nagpur-North has the highest number of 308 polling booths.
Similarly in Ramtek constituency, Katol Assembly segment has 310, Saoner 323, Hingana 318, Umrer 357, Kamptee 388 and Ramtek 349 polling stations.
