A night of fun and party ended on a bad note following a brawl between five Libyan and Afghan nationals as they clashed with each other at a pub in Sahara Mall on the MG Road around 2am on Tuesday.
The youths, all between 22 and 35 years, are visiting India on medical visa. They sustained bruises during the scuffle but swift action by the police averted the fight from escalating into a major incident. The foreign nationals were later arrested.
Police officials said that three Libyans — Farhas (22), Ali Mohammad (23) and Ahmad (22) were partying at a pub on the third floor of Sahara Mall on late Monday night. When the trio was coming down from the third floor, they entered into an argument with two Afghan nationals named Mohammad Yasim (35), and Abdul Salam (30), over an issue. Following a heated exchange of words, both sides exchanged fisticuffs.
The PCR van stationed outside the mall was quick to respond and they along with police personnel from the Sector 29 police station, took the five foreign nationals into custody.
“The medical examination of the foreign nationals confirmed that they were drunk. Our team managed to control the situation. All five are staying in various hotels in Delhi. They had come to Gurgaon for treatment at Artemis Hospital,” said investigating officer Jagdish Prasad, DLF City police station.
The five were booked under Sections 107/51 of the CrPC (preventive arrest of persons for committing breach of peace or disturbing public tranquillity).
They were released from police custody later.
