The accident occurred at around 8.30 am and hearing the noise, two policemen from the nearby LT Marg police chowky went to the spot. They saw Deepak bleeding and took him to G T hospital, where he was declared dead.

“By the time Pradhan saw the boy he could not control his vehicle and crushed Patwa,” said Kondulkar.

“This is a case of careless driving on the driver’s part. He did not look drunk when he was arrested, but we have sent his blood samples for testing nonetheless,” said Senior Police Inspector J.R. Sarmokadam, LT Marg police station.
