5 security personnel of PM's convoy injured in mishap

Five security personnel in the convoy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi were injured when their escort vehicle met with an accident near the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

Five security personnel in the convoy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi were injured on Saturday when their escort vehicle met with an accident near the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

The Maruti Gypsy escort vehicle rolled off a small bridge at Bhangagarh near the hospital visited by the dignitaries, injuring the five personnel, official sources said.

The injured were admitted to the GMCH where the condition of one of them was stated to be serious.

The prime minister and the UPA chairperson were on their way to the GMCH to visit the injured in Thursday's serial blast which claimed 77 lives.
