FIFTY TEAMS under the new commission appointed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for the verification of Sardar Sarovar Project rehabilitation sites will arrive in Indore on May 21.
From here they will disburse to 177 affected sites and rehabilitation centres. The teams will stay there for about 20 days, and after the verification, will submit the report to Government of India.
Each team would have three members. Of the three, two members will be from National Sample Survey Organisation, a Government of Indian undertaking, and one member will be from State Government who would guide them to rehabilitation sites.
NVDA will make arrangements for their lodging and other facilities in 177 villages of Dhar, Jhabua, Barwani and Khargone districts that have been affected by SSP. The seven affected tehsils of four districts in Indore division include Alirajpur (22 villages), Kukshi (37), Barwani (40), Thikri (27), Manawar (22), Dharampuri (19) and Kasarawad (10 villages).
The senior representatives of new commission will meet State Government officials in Bhopal on May 19. According to Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) Commissioner Vinod Kumar, only seven rehabilitation sites are incomplete. He said they would be completed by June 30.
