6 candidates file paper in Punjab

As many as six candidates on Tuesday filed their nomination papers for the forthcoming Parliamentary elections 2009 in Punjab, taking the total number of those jumping in the electoral battle to 16 for the May seven Lok Sabha polls.

Bhagwant Singh Samao, CPI (ML) Libration has filed his nomination papers from Bathinda, an election office spokesman said.

Jagmeet Singh Brar and his wife Amanpreet Kaur, Congress (I),Manoj Kumar, Akali Bharti Shiv Sena (Rashatravadi) and Dhayan Singh SAD (Amritsar) have filed their nomination papers from Ferozepur constituency. Billu Singh, All India Shriomani Baba Jiwan Singh (Majabi Dal) has filed his papers from Sangrur.

According to the spokesman, total number of 960 complaints of violations had been received out of which 536 had been disposed.
