Six persons were run over by a passenger train on Tuesday while they were crossing tracks in Hyderabad, a railway official said.

The deceased trespassed the tracks when a weekly train Manmad-Secunderabad Express knocked them down between Hafizpet and Sanath Nagar railway stations in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning, South Central Railways Chief Public Relations officer P Krishnaiah told PTI.

He said the victims were neither railway employees nor contract labourers and that no railway work was going on the tracks at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to trace the identity of those killed in the incident, Krishnaiah said.
