7.50 lakh take part in Surya Namaskar

IN ALL 7.50 lakh students in seven districts of Indore division performed Surya Namaskar on Thursday. This included about two lakh children of Indore district.

At Indore the main function was held at Nehru Stadium in the morning, where about 11,000 schoolchildren participated in the exercise along with Public Works Department Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, District Collector Vivek Aggarwal, school education department officials and trained Yoga teachers.

Addressing the children, chief guest Vijayvargiya said that Surya Namaskar awakens physical, mental and spiritual powers that are necessary for all-round growth of an individual.

Saying that holding Surya Namaskar was a revolutionary step initiated by the State Government, he added that any oppos-ition to such an exercise was improper.

The function began with lighting of the traditional lamp and singing of Vande Mataram. At the end of the programme fruits were distributed to children by the district administration.

The Yoga teachers imparted Surya Namaskar training to schoolchildren for 15 days before the final performance.
