7 arrested for beating up a pregnant woman, damaging property

Seven persons have been arrested on charges of beating up a pregnant woman and damaging properties of several persons in Vanzarwad locality of Dohad town, police said today.

Seven persons have been arrested on charges of beating up a pregnant woman and damaging properties of several persons in Vanzarwad locality of Dohad town, police said on Sunday.

The police are looking for five more persons involved in the case, sources said. The seven accused were arrested late last night.

The accused damaged three houses of this locality after a youth Abdul Hanif Sheikh eloped with a girl Shabnam staying in Kunjwada area of Dohad four days ago, police said.

This had angered the family members of the girl who armed with sticks and sharp weapons attacked the house of Sheikh and his relatives and beat them up including a pregnant woman staying in Vanzarwad, police added.
