The Manikpur police have so far questioned more than 70 people in connection with the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl, whose body was found in a river at the Tungareshwar Bird Sanctuary in Vasai on August 27.
The police have quizzed school teachers who had accompanied the group of students for the hiking camp, other revellers at the sanctuary on that day, among others, but so far there have been no leads.
The victim, a student of Holy Cross School in Nalasopara, had been part of a school trip of 150 students. Teachers realised she was missing only when they conducted a head count, after which search teams were sent out for her.
The girl had multiple injuries and based on preliminary findings, the Manikpur police registered a case of murder. The post-mortem report later revealed that the girl had been raped.
