8-day programme to mark State?s foundation day

THE STATE culture department is organising an eight-day function from October 30 to November 6 to mark the completion of the golden jubilee year of the State’s foundation.
Eminent artistes and cultural groups of the country will be participating in the function. The function will begin with eminent film actress and classical dancer Hema Malini’s ballet ‘Draupadi’. Next day noted ghazal singer Talat Aziz will present his programme. Both these programmes will be held at Motilal Nehru stadium.
The venue of the programme on the third day of the celebrations will be Ravindra Bhavan, where noted flute player Ronu Mazumdar will perform. Following Mazumdar’s flute recital, Pt Birju Maharaj’s disciple Shashwati Sen will present Kathak dance with her troupe.
On the fourth day, folk dances of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Assam, Sikkim and Manipur will be presented at Motilal Nehru Stadium.
On November 3, eminent sufi kawwal Ustad Ahmed Warsi will perform at Motilal Nehru Stadium. Playback singer Shreya Ghoshal and her group will perform at the same venue on November 4.
Noted Sarod exponent Vishwajeet Raichaudhary will perform at Ravindra Bhavan on November 5 and eminent classical singer Parveen Sultana will also perform the same day at the same venue. An All-India Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira will be held at Motilal Stadium on the last day of the programme.
