Two policemen and six villagers, including two women, were injured when villagers clashed with policemen at a village in Bihar's East Champaran district on Tuesday, police said.

Villagers of Manjhar attacked a police party of Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) jawans with brickbats and stones when they reached the village to remove an encroachment on a piece of land and in the ensuing clash, eight persons, including two policemen, were injured, they said.

The injured were admitted to a government hospital for treatment, they said.

A Havildar Budhan Ram and Constable Ramakant sustained injuries in the clash, they said.

They said the policemen fired a couple of rounds in the air to disperse the villagers. An FIR was lodged with the Turkolia police station against 25 villagers in this connection.
