9,344 pay obeisance at the Holy cave

On the sixth day of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, 9,344 yatris paid obeisance at the Holy cave. Till date, 70,500 yatris have had darshan of the ice Lingam at the cave.

Forward movement of the yatris from Nunwan, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panjtarni yatra camps had to be stopped a number of times due to inclement weather and intermittent heavy rains.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, another batch comprising 2,125 pilgrims departed from Jammu Bhagwati Nagar base camp to the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir amid tight security arrangements.

As per police sources, the seventh batch of pilgrims, comprising 2,125 devotees (1511 males, 491 females, 23 children and100 sadhus) left from the base camp in Jammu at around 4.30 am. The convoy of 65vehicles included 28 buses, 17 light motor vehicles and 20 private vehicles.

With today's batch, a total of 9,869 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for Amarnath cave shrine since the annual yatra began on June 28 from the shorter Baltal route.
