Meritus GP's Afiq Ikhwan Yazid clinched his sixth straight win beating Malaysian compatriot Nabil Jeffri by nine hundredths to the chequered flag in the 12th Round of the JK Tyre Asia Series here at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday.

Yazid closed the gap on overall standings leader Lucas Auer to eight points with six rounds to go. Auer's race hopes were dashed when he broke his front-wing while trying an overtaking maneuver on Jeffri. Australian driver Duvashen Padayachee finished third, his first podium finish this season.

India's Raj Bharath also secured his best finish of the season, ending a creditable 7th.

"I'm thrilled to have won my sixth straight race and swept both the legs, at Indonesia and Singapore. It's still an open field with six races to go. So we will be trying our best till the very last," said Yazid.
