A Gujarati speaks up for Aamir

I'm Gujarati living in Gujarat and I fully support Aamir. It's media-made myth that entire Gujarat is against him. It makes news more dramatic but it doesn?t serve the purpose. The frame of your news camera is very small. It can fit only 10-20 lampoons of BJP or Congress. But it will not accommodate millions of Gujaratis who are not against Aamir. Because protest makes news but civility of peace-loving majority doesn?t look dramatic enough. Nobody here asked an apology from Aamir.

I am Gujarati living in Gujarat and I fully support Aamir. It is a media made myth that entire Gujarat is against Aamir Khan and he is dammed in Gujarat. It makes news more dramatic but it doesn’t serve the purpose. The frame of your news camera is very small. It can fit only 10-20 lampoons of BJP or Congress.

But it will not accommodate millions of Gujaratis who are not against Aamir. Because protest makes news but civility of peace-loving majority doesn’t look dramatic enough for the news channels. Nobody in Gujarat is asking apology from Aamir.

Why don’t you do a sting operation or an expose on Narmada canal system in Gujarat that is completely in disarray? Poor people of Kutch and Saurashtra will not going to get water in any case. 10-20 years down the line, Kutch and Suarashtra will be fighting water wars against mainland Gujarat. How come most land-pieces along the proposed Narmada canal system in mainland Gujarat has been bought buy rich farmers?

Even if the water ultimately reaches the poor, will they be able to afford it since water-transmitting cost makes Narmada waters costlier than bottled water and how long the Gujarat government will bear the burden? The people of western Ahmedabad (areas under AUDA management) have already experienced how costly the Narmada water is! Why don’t your media ask these BJP guys that if Narmada water is so precious and entire Gujarat is thirsty then why Gujarat - one of the most dry states boasts maximum numbers of water parks?

On the other hand, the mighty middle class of Gujarat has become monster and today Gujarat has become intellectually bankrupt state. People here, either talk about stock market or profit and loss in business or talk about some family God-man or about their NRI relatives or whether it is healthier to eat garlic and onion or not, or they will just pompom about histrionics of Modi. (It is said that a coward will always need rhetorical vociferous self-proclaimed saviour, who in the name of safekeeping actually captivates them. Cowardice urban middleclass of Gujarat is suffering from this very complex. Hence the Modi’s success.)

Even majority of the artists, writers, local media and so-called scholars have become intellectually bankrupt.

It’s the problem of prosperity and in a sense Americanisation of Gujarati middle class.
