It’s unbelievable how a single masterpiece can change the way your room looks. Such a focal point brightens up the prospects of your interiors. Interior designer Raseel Gujral of Casa Paradox says, “It certainly acts as an anchor to your space, so the rest of the decor revolves around your masterpiece.”

The Focal Point
A centrepiece ideally bags the limelight due to its unique or opulent looks. Sheena Singh of Chizzle says, “A single luxury decor piece can give an all together different look to your home.” So, focus on that one luxurious centrepiece that goes well with your existing interiors, matches with the colour scheme and the style of the rest of your room’s decor.

Tricks of the trade
The right masterpiece can make any dull room look luxurious. Here are a few anchor decor items to instantly lift your room or that lonely corner.

Furniture: Incorporate furniture that acts as an anchor of your space. Either select a stylish sofa design or liven up a simple chair with quirky upholstery. A pair of opulent arm chairs with a centre table can instantly do the trick. Also, a unique centre table can accentuate the decor.

Lighting: Opulent chandeliers can add a strong focal point to your living room. If your existing decor is plain, add a bright contrasting colour chandelier and if it’s opulent, go for crystal designs. Light installations, in trend these days, are perfect for statement lighting. Larger-than-life lampshades are another option for creating a focal point in the room.

Candlebra: Candlebras, in bigger sizes, can be your masterpiece too. If your space has a traditional Indian decor, opt for a Mughal or desi design. For European home decor, look out for sleek and clean designs in a candlebra.

Sculptures: Figurines have the power to speak for themselves. For an iconic piece, select a medium size sculpture which is neither too big nor too small.

Waterbodies: Waterbodies form a great focal point and add freshness to the atmosphere as well. Fish aquariums, interior fountain arrangements or table top fountains bring an interesting touch to the living room. Relaxing music and lights can be installed in the waterbodies to make it look even more attractive.

Maintenance matters
To maintain your expensive canvas, feather dusting is ideal. Make sure, it stays away from sunlight and extreme temperature.
For a chandelier, you need to be very careful while cleaning it. Clean the crystal with utmost care.

For Silver items, Gujral advises, “Dust it regularly with silver cloth by Hagerdy, available at Episode. It cleans and polishes at the same time without any damages.”

Clean the sculptures with a dry or damp cloth, depending on the top coating. These are most vulnerable for dust to settle in the cuts and bends.
