Flash floods, triggered by incessant rains for the past three days, have affected life in Jharkhand, by submerging agricultural lands, snappingelectricity supply and disrupting road and railway traffic.

Although over 1,000 families have been affected by the floods, no loss of life has yet been reported from any part of the state.

Vehicular traffic on the National Highway (NH-23), linking state capital Ranchi to Bilaspur in the eastern part of Chhattisgarh, was disrupted for a few hours near Gumla, 96 km west of Ranchi, after floodwaters from thenearby Nagpheni river flooded the highway.

Railway traffic was disrupted for nearly 12 hours near Dhanbad, about 165 km south of Ranchi, following a landslide around 7.15 pm on Sunday night.
