A toast to whisky

A celebration toasting the finest of whiskies is one that can only take place in India’s whisky city — Delhi. This is what happened this week, as the Capital played host to the second edition of the World Whisky Bar Awards.

The event is held in over 20 countries and it gives an opportunity to bars, restaurants and hotels to get accreditation and, consequently, nominations at the World Whisky Bar Awards. This year, over 60 outlets in India sent their nominations to reinstate their position as the finest destinations for whisky worshippers.

Held at Leela Kempinski, Gurgaon, the event intended to reaffirm India’s position on the world whisky map and upgrade the whisky offering here, besides ensuring responsible drinking.

Sandeep Arora of Whisky Magazine, South Asia, said, “With the World Whisky Bar Awards, Whisky Magazine brings global best practices in whisky hospitality to India. Consumers can look forward to unique experiences in the country.”
ITC Maurya in Delhi was one of the winners, bagging three prestigious awards — Best Whisky Restaurant for Dum Pukht; Best Whisky Bar for the Golf Bar; and Best Whisky Ambassador of the World for ITC Maurya executive director SSH Rahman.
