THE MUCH awaited public meetings and road show of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Jaya Prada turned into flop shows as both the meetings lasted for only two-and-a-half minutes each. Moreover, late arrival of the Bollywood star also dampened high sprits of the SP workers.

Arriving three hours behind schedule, Prada, in her address at Moolganj crossing said nothing noteworthy. In her two-and-a-half minute speech, she dubbed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) communal and exhorted the masses to vote for the SP mayoral candidate Neeraj Chaturvedi.

“SP is the only party which can put in efforts for the development of the State. Therefore, I request Kanpurites to vote for the SP candidate and ensure progress of the city,” said Prada.

Applauding Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, she said that the CM had ensured uplift of all sections of the society in his short tenure of three years.

“Only a person of the stature of Mulayam Singh Yadav can bring about overall development of the State and satisfy all sections of the society in such a short duration,” said Prada.

Lauding CM’s Kanya Vidya Dhan dole, she said, “The State Government’s financial assistance of Rs 20,000 to girls is a landmark decision.”

She added that neither did the BJP nor the Congress ever think on such lines.

She said the Congress was trying to form the government in the State, but the efforts were not bearing fruit.

Jaya said, “It is only because of the love of masses that I am campaigning for the SP. I urge all to retain this love and cast votes in favour of Neeraj.” She called on the gathering to remember ‘cycle’, the party symbol of SP. Earlier, she also addressed a public gathering at Kranti Nagar crossing, KDA colony. In her brief speech, she requested the people to vote for the SP mayoral candidate.
