Aamir plays lead role in wife's film?
In this one of a kind marketing strategy, Aamir Khan is giving an impression that he's playing a cameo in Dhobi Ghaat. But in reality, the actor is playing one of the lead roles in wife Kiran Rao's film.india Updated: Jul 18, 2009 18:08 IST
Aamir Khan seems to be experimenting a lot with his marketing tactics. First he got ushers to sport the Ghajini look during the screening of Shah Rukh Khan’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and now he is all set to shock his fans with something novel.
Media is abuzz with reports that Aamir Khan is playing a cameo role in Kiran Rao’s directorial debut film, Dhobi Ghat, but the actor is actually portraying a full-fledged role in the film.
And what's the selling point? Minimum expectations. We have seen production houses overhyping their films and thus losing the box-office prospects.
Informs a source about Aamir’s character in Dhobi Ghat, “Aamir plays a painter who lives and works from his tiny studio-apartment in a noisy and congested Mumbai neighbourhood. In our normal day-to-day life we meet so many people on a daily basis… say a watchman, a servant or a dhobi. Pratiek plays a dhobi and the film is about how one day such people become very significant in your life. That’s the story of Dhobi Ghat. Kiran never wanted to cast Aamir in the film but Aamir insisted and even screen tested for the role.”
Seriously, dho daala Aamir!
