Nupur Talwar, facing trial along with her dentist husband Rajesh Talwar in connection with the double murders of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court for bail.
Nupur has been in custody ever since she surrendered before the Ghaziabad chief judicial magistrate on April 30 after the apex court rejected her review petition. She had then sought to recall a February order refusing to set aside a trial court directive summoning her in the case as an accused.
The latest appeal, filed by advocate Sandeep Kapur, challenges the Allahabad high court’s May 31 order rejecting Nupur's bail plea.
The appeal says Nupur is entitled to be released in view of the contradictions in the findings of two CBI teams.
According to Nupur, while the first CBI team gave her and her husband Rajesh Talwar a clean chit, the second one under the supervision of an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre "concocted" the story of their involvement and adopted a complete change in the line of investigation. Aarushi and Hemraj were killed in May 2008.
