The 'college bandh' called by the student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) elicited a good response in Ahmednagar, its city unit chief said on Wednesday.

The bandh call was in protest of alleged infiltration of Bangladeshis into the country, city chief Bansi Shelke told PTI.

The Ahmednagar College, New Arts SC and Commerce College, Sarda college and New Law College and other institutes in the district joined the shutdown that was called on Tuesday.

Seven states in the North east region of the country are hit by this problem and the Centre has turned a blind eye to the situation causing threat to national security, Rajeshwar Shriram, the district organiser of the Parishad while adressing the students assembled for a meeting, said.
