One of the golden rules of life is to accept your own self as it is.
In other words, you should accept what you are, and should not unnecessarily bother for what you are not.
That does not mean that once you learn to accept yourself, you sit pretty and be happy over it. One must, in all earnest, try to progress physically, mentally, materially and spiritually.
All these elements are important for your journey towards oneness with your soul. Auriela McCarthy believes our problems arise mainly from the fact that we refuse to accept ourselves; and as a result, we unnecessarily invite trouble for ourselves.
It is not that easy, though, for everybody to accept his/her self. But if one knows what goes into making one accept one's self, then the process gets easier.
McCarthy gives four principles of self-acceptance:
1. Realise that you are a human being, and as such you can and you will make mistakes.
2. As they say, to err is human, to forgive divine. Your mistakes can be forgiven if you are sorry about them, and you can forgive yourself too.
3. Sometimes, you are prepared for life; but at times you are not at all. And that is how it will always be. Act and do the best you can.
4. Your needs and wants are important though they may not be your priority. Until you fulfill your own needs and wants, you can’t think of others’ woes.
In other words, try to fulfill your needs in all honest and deserving manner.
I believe there is a nothing wrong in aspiring to be a billionaire. If you have a billion dollar, you can do a billion wonders.
You can be a better tool for social change; and you can bring smile on the faces of the needy and the hopeless.
In turn, that gives you what you need: peace and happiness. One can’t ask for a better deal.
