A man was fatally knocked down by a van in Bangalore on Thursday, triggering protest from the passers-by who set the goods vehicle on fire and broke windowpanes of 10 other city buses, police said.
The mob rampage held up the city traffic for some time and police had to intervene to restore normalcy, the sources said.
Police said a BSNL employee, while the van and the driver made a vain attempt to speed away fatally knocked down crossing the road. However, the passers-by chased the vehicle, brought it to a halt and set it afire.
They also pelted stones on 10 Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses and damaged its windowpanes, police said.
