Uttar Pradesh DGP admitted to the lapses in the handling of the case by the Noida police on Saturday.

Authorities too tried to show the erring police officials have been suitably punished for the lapses. But most of the transfers in the case have turned out to be good postings.

Superintendent of Police Mahesh Kumar Mishra and Station House Officer of Sector 20 police station DR Nanoria were transferred with immediate effect. However, not many realised that they were given equally good postings if not better.

Mishra was transferred to the elite Special Task Force in Allahabad, while Nanoria has been sent to Saharanpur district.

Jalvayu police post in-charge Bachhu Singh has been transferred to the Police Lines. However, top police sources said, he too would be accommodated soon since his seniors have escaped with no punishment.

General secretary of Noida Lok Manch Mahesh Saxena said, “These transfers are no punishments. They transfer officers to avoid bad publicity.... In Nithari case too, majority of officers who were suspended, have been reinstated. Even the dismissed staff has been reinstated.”
