Activa celebrates one million-mark

Celebrating the success of selling one million Activa scooters in just five years, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Tuesday honoured its customers who were the winners of 'Honda Activa Happy Family' contest.
Yukihiro Aoshima, President and CEO of HMSI handed over the prizes to the winners at a function here.
HMSI had organised the Honda Activa Happy Family Contest where customers from all across the country shared their experiences with Honda Activa by writing their experience in form of short story. Out of the 4200 entries that were received, five first prize winners, ten-second prize winners and hundred consolation prize winners have been announced.
An all expenses paid two nights three days family trip to Singapore is the reward for the first five winners. The five lucky families who received the 1st Prize during the ceremony included S Ramesh (Chennai), D Kadambini (Hyderabad), M L Bachani (Jaipur), Pallavi D Dusane (Aurangabad) and Anita Pereira (Goa). The winners of the second position bagged an all expense paid two nights three days family trip to Goa whereas the rest hundred have been handed over designer Honda jackets.
Speaking on the occasion Aoshima said that Activa, which has been designed for all ages and gender, has activated the scooter market in India which has been going through a dromant phase. He hailed the Honda customers for making it gain 20 per cent market share in the mid-size scooter segment.
Yoichi Mizutani, Director, Sales & Marketing, HMSI added, "Honda Activa Happy Family Contest is unique and very close to our heart. The main objective of the contest was to thank all our valuable Activa customers from our heart."
HMSI also unveiled a Coffee Table book named 'My Honda Activa and Me' that is a compilation of the award winning stories.
Established in 1999, HMSI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Company Japan. With last year's turnover at Rs 1700 Crore, HMSI is India's 4th largest manufacturer of two wheelers and the largest manufacturer and exporter of scooters.
